Early Childcare Education

The Early Childcare Education Certificate Program equips students with the essential skills and knowledge required to work effectively with young children and their families across diverse early learning environments. Built on a strong play-based philosophy, the program emphasizes positive assets, strength-based perspectives, and practical hands-on learning to help students apply theory into real-world childcare settings.
This program allows learners to specialize as either an Infant/Toddler Educator or a Special Needs Educator, preparing them for meaningful careers within the childcare sector.
Students gain comprehensive training in lifespan development, curriculum planning, guidance strategies, communication, inclusion, observation and recording, and professional ethics.
Course Prerequisites: Students, early-career professionals, school lunch supervisors, or licensed teachers.

INDUSTRY OPPORTUNITIES

Early Childhood Educators perform some or all of the following duties:
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences for children.
  • Build collaborative, culturally competent partnerships with families and professionals.
  • Observe, record, and assess children’s growth to support individualized planning.
  • Ensure compliance with government health, safety, and childcare regulations.
  • Create inclusive learning environments for children with diverse needs.
